Alright, today’s health topic is busting our day-to-day stress. I took a health class way-back-when and here are the top twelve stress busters that we discussed:
-
Look for humor in the situation. HAHAHA that’s so funny!!
-
Create your “happy place”– visualize yourself there and then come back to reality once you have calmed down. Don’t stay there too long.
-
Choose a song that has a calming effect on you. Listen to it.
-
Start your day with a positive. This could be a motivational quote, inspirational book, or heck even a few jumping jacks.
-
Call a friend. Vent away. Us ladies are reeeeal good at this.
- Focus on a goal you have set. Take the next step to achieve it. You will feel accomplished and this brings about less stress and happiness.
- Do something that is new and fun. Here’s an idea- the other day we went rollerblading outside. Kid you not, it was the most fun I have had in a while. I was laughing at how ridiculous I looked. Even something simple and cheap could be exciting.
- Spend time with nature. Sure,we’ll let this involve laying out. Don’t forget the sunblock.
- Change what you can in a situation and then accept the rest. For example, change a response of yours to something that is more peaceful. Like, “SHUT UP” to “please lower your voice.” Capishe?
- Get your meditate on. Yoga. Pilates. You name it. Come to Colorado it’s everywhere.
- Ask yourself, “What is the worst that could happen?” Feal the fear. This often reduces stress because you begin to realize “Hey, maybe I could handle that.”
- Do something physical. Not to a person though, that could cause problems.
Let’s always remember that only YOU can prevent forest fires create peace of mind.
Happy stress-busting

What: Want to change your life? Do you want to have the best body, self-esteem, and mental health? If you said “yes” to either of those questions, WE NEED TO HANG OUT! I am going to be taking a Bikrams Yoga class after a 6 week hiatus. {Product of my laziness, lack of cash, and physical health i.e. almost dying.} I can not wait to meditate and challenge my body again.
When: This coming Monday at 8pm. {Put your kids to bed, leave the dishes for the husband and COME!}
Where: Tempe Bikram Studio
How: I will tell you everything you need to bring, and even pick you up! Dead serious.
Why: Oh I don’t know…. BECAUSE YOU WANT TO EXPIERENCE NIRVANA? You also want to look like this HOTTIE!

This is a picture of my dear friend Joanna. {Boo, don’t be mad at me!} She has being going to Bikrams regularly for the past 8 months and it has changed her life. No joke. She had more health problems than me before converting to this form of exercise. By the way… this is an advanced pose. You will not be asked to do this in Mondays class.

Here are the poses we attempt to do in class. The best thing about Bikrams is everyone no matter size, shape, or age is invited and loved. There is such a sense of community and support at yoga so don’t be SCARED. If you’re brave enough to change your life, leave a message and I will get in touch with you. If you’re too scared… wish me luck and let me know when you get the courage. GO BIKRAM!
