{Katelyn’s 6th Birthday}
The “Birthday Shopping” tutorial and field trip that I took Katelyn on was a great success. I discovered that she’s a quick study when it comes to the fine art of shopping. To remind you all, I took Katelyn out to buy her own presents this year. And here’s what I discovered:
The best part about shopping with Katelyn is that she likes to shop at stores where she gets more for her money.
So our first stop was the DOLLAR STORE where she picked out gifts for all the important people in her life- candy for her Dad, fire hats for her brother and cousins, stamps for Grandma Debbie’s house, and toys for Joey (Deb’s white Maltese). She’s learned at a young age that if you buy gifts for other people then you don’t have to feel guilty about buying even more things for yourself.
Next stop on the shopping trip-her Aunt Keighley’s fav store-TUESDAY MORNING. Here’s Katelyn moving as fast as possible up and down the aisles looking at merchandise. And then setting it back on the shelf again.
{Cheesy grin=loving every minute of shopping with Debbie}

{Katelyn took a picture of me following her around with the cart. After looking at her photography skills I’ve determined that taking pics with an iPhone camera isn’t the most flattering way to capture the moment!}
We finished off the shopping adventure with a trip to the toy aisle at that store that starts with a “W”. Here Katelyn filled up the basket with all sorts of furry creatures, their furniture and clothing-all while sitting inside the cart. The girl’s a creative shopper, that’s for sure. I may try her shopping technique next time I get tired while shopping.
After we completed our birthday shopping adventure, I took home all of her birthday purchases for wrapping. Katelyn learned that day that it’s all about waiting for the presents to be gift wrapped so that they coordinate with the birthday theme.
{Katelyn’s presents are in the background. Even though she knew everything she was getting from Grandma Debbie she acted like they were all a surprise to her. She didn’t want to ruin the moment for her little brother and cousins. }
{Katelyn’s hat was a DIY project that she picked out at Tuesday Morning-she’s already practicing to be a Bella Girl. NOTE: Grady thought he’d give her some stiff competition by quickly making a hat with the left over ribbon from the presents and wearing it on his head for the party.}
{Katelyn’s a multi-tasker. She can talk 100 mph and unwrap birthday presents at the same time AND pretend to be surprised.}
{Gotta love the birthday makeup! It makes the pics so much better.}

Next year we are doing this birthday shopping field trip again since it was such a success. And I’m thinking that she’s old enough to experience how fun it is to shop while vacationing at the same time.

I agree Keighley. The angle of the picture makes me look like I’m wide head. Guess I can’t always be perfect… sigh…
