If I had to pick my 3 favorite things for decorating a fireplace mantel  I would have to pick….

 Gigantic Clocks

In most houses the fireplace is a significant focal point in the room. And if the room has high ceilings there’s usually a lot of wall space above the mantel that needs to be decorated. A “gigantic” clock is a great way to solve the problem of creating a balanced looked. Here’s some ideas that show how a large clock can compliment the look of your fireplace. I’ve also included some examples of clocks that I would use over my own mantel.

Topiaries

There are many different ways to use topiaries on your fireplace mantel. Whether you use them everyday or for your holiday look-this one item can totally transform the look of your fireplace without doing much else.

Finials

Finials work great for filling up space on a mantel-especially if you want a variety of objects with varying heights. It’s easy to decorate using finials because you can use them several ways -for example- you can pair up the same exact finials or put together an eclectic collection.

So Bella Blog readers….Do you have any favorite decor items for your fireplace mantel? I’d love to hear your suggestions.

Happy Decorating!

What about mantel as decoration and focal point by itself?
I have my own experience to get mantel on gas fireplace by DIY. The advantage is the incredible choice of finishing that can be appropriate for any design style. Just add the fire.
I have pictures to illustrate my project.
