A well put together “dream” kitchen

(The same kitchen from a different angle)

Flooring: What material will you be using for your flooring? You will want to consider the ease of care as well as comfort for standing on or moving chairs across. Common kitchen flooring includes:

Tile-ceramic or porcelin

Wood

Natural stone

Polished Concrete

Lighting Fixtures: Take into consideration the type of lighting you will need in your kitchen-will you have a mixture of unobtrusive lighting as well as decorative light fixtures? When making your selection consider the color, the finish and the size (or scale).

Chandelier light fixture centered over an island

Double light fixtures centered over an island

Walls:How many walls do you actually have to worry about? Will you paint or wallpaper? In addition to these considerations you will want to think about the walls that you may be using tile on like back splashes or ceilings.

Painted walls and ceiling

 Artistic painting

Tile back splash-brick ceiling

Wallpaper

Window Treatments: The nice thing about doing window treatments in your kitchen is that you can do whatever you want. Will you keep them open or do you want privacy? Windows are a great way to add to the decor and feel of your kitchen.

Decorative Shades

Drapes

Shutters

So now that you’ve got the “Cookin” Kitchen Lists #1 AND #2…. it’s time to get busy.

Happy Decorating!
