Where do YOU find ideas that help you discover and define your design style?
And once you have a name for your style, where do you find decorating ideas?
And where are THE “great places to go”…for STYLE IDEAS?
HERE’S SOME “GREAT PLACES TO GO”…
FOR DÉCOR STYLE IDEAS
Design Magazines: Visit your local bookstore and pull a variety of different design style magazines. Go through each one noticing such things as the style of decorating you like, the colors that appeal to you and any ideas that you would like to incorporate into your own decor. Those that have 2 or more ideas you like are worth purchasing. Put these ideas into a “Decorating Notebook”. (I will share more with you about this idea in my next post.)
Internet Design Sources: I love going online and checking out the websites of my favorite design magazines. These sites collect ideas that are easily found: Color Pallets, Design Style, and Décor Ideas. Some even offer design tools including furniture and space planning. Other great resources on the internet are TV or Cable Design Show’s websites. Many shows offer specific project information that offer a one stop décor resource. Here’s one of my favorite.
Visit Design Models: To see ideas in a tangible form I like visiting local model homes. Other great ways to see things in person that are out of the ordinary might be go on home tours that feature neighborhoods or designers. Many charities team up with designers and do yearly shows that showcase custom homes.
There are many more “places to go” for design inspiration- blogs, design centers, furniture stores-just to name a few. In addition, if you have any design questions or comments feel free to leave comments! I’d be happy to help you find the resources that will work specifically for you.
